County Tourist Development Council
On the Move
The Washington
County Tourist Development Council has recently received
a grant from VISIT FLORIDA. This is a matching grant that
has an enabled the Council to design and have placed on
I-10 two billboards with information about our great county.
Be watching for the billboards – one east and one
west of the Chipley exit.
The Council has also been extremely busy
developing its new website; it should be up and running
around the first of September. The website highlights all
the restaurants, hotels, motels, and annual events throughout
Washington County. There are links to information about
all our boat ramps, hunting and fishing licenses, a calendar
of events, and other places of interest in the county. The
new website is www.visitwashingtoncountyfl.com. Be sure
to check it out. Our goal is to continually improve the
information sent to anyone searching for information about
our area. If you have any ideas or comments to improve our
website, please feel free to email us.
Another investment by the Council has been
in a spot on a southeastern map. We will be one of 36 places
highlighted on the map. There will be 140,000 maps printed
and distributed throughout the United States. The Council
will receive 2500 of these maps. Plans are to place some
with various businesses around the county, as well as at
Welcome Centers in the area.
The TDC meets the fourth Monday of each
month at the Washington County Chamber Office. The public
is invited to attend.
