Greg
Spiro, of National Recreation Properties, Inc., met with
Washington County Commissioners in July to discuss his firm's
plans for development in southeastern Washington County.
Describing NRPI as a fully
integrated company that develops properties across the U.S.,
Spiro who is Executive Vice President with the company,
said the business started out as property liquidators, but
has grown into a land acquisition/development company.
Currently NRPI is active with NRP of Sunny Hills, LLC, and
want to develop and sell 7,200 lots in Sunny Hills.
Spiro approached the County
about advertising an ordinance to allow them to float bonds
for development of infrastructure for the units they purchased
in Sunny Hills. Spiro said their company's attorney is already
working with County Attorney Gerald Holley (who was not
present at the meeting) and they hope to have everything
in line by the first of the year.
County Administrator Peter
Herbert said the funds generated by the bond sale would
be used to put in roads, water and sewer in the yet to be
developed property. He said all the County will do is adopt
the ordinance to form a dependent district where the funds
will be designated for use. He said the developers will
then attach the cost of the infrastructure to the development
and those purchasing the property will cover the payment
costs of the bonds.
Discussion of the ordinance
will come up again at the Aug. 14th recessed meeting set
by the board.
