John V Foster
At the March 29th meeting of the Chipley
Planning and Zoning Commission, a five phase development
order was approved for a 56.4 acre parcel of land South
of Wal-Mart and East of Days Inn Motel.
The property is planned for
up to three restaurants, up to two motels and perhaps as
100 store units. It is to be called Washington Center.
The property owner is TGW
53 LLC, Principal owners include Gunther Werner, and Keri
Werner Francis of Pompano Beach and Antonio Garcia and Cecilia
Garcia, Pinecrest, Florida.
The design is Avcon Inc.,
Engineers and Planners, Niceville, Fl. with a local representative
Chipley businessman Trey Cook.
Construction of Phase I, the
basic land development system, including roadways, water,
sewer, stormwater control, etc. is scheduled for nine months.
Following that are four phases of commercial development,
with the project totaling 4-5 years.
The developer is expected
to provide paved access roads to the development and will
rebuild the existing sanitary sewer lift station at Wal-Mart.
The city is expected to provide
water and sewer service and perhaps natural gas.
